Description
Viking Ship Alphabet Pencil handmade by artisans in the UK. Presented with a Trivia Tag which tells the story of Viking King Cnut crowned in Southampton. This Viking pencil makes the perfect gift for fans of maritime heritage or a Southampton souvenir.
The barrel of the pencil is 100% natural and made here from sustainable wood. It has a dark blue barrel inscribed with the Runic Alphabet. This was the Viking alphabet. The topper is made by artisans in solid lead-free pewter. It shows a traditional Viking ship design. As always with us, everything is made here in the UK. We dislike carbon miles! There are few pencil makers left in the UK however the quality of the wood and the graphite is superior. Put simply, the pencil won’t chip or break when you sharpen it.
An historic fact features on all our Trivia Tags and this one is about the Vikings. Here’s the story:
- In 1016, Viking King Cnut the Great was crowned King of England in Southampton. His legacy includes Canute Road, renamed from ‘The Beach’ c.1850; Canute Chambers, once the Titanic ticketing office and HLV Canute, the port’s huge floating crane.
The Viking Ship Alphabet Pencil with its solid pewter topper makes a smart & unusual gift. It is also a perfect Southampton souvenir and you can find them in the gift shop of Southampton’s Sea City Museum.
